Laconic Symphonies/Jekyll and Hyde (Single)

by Matt Finn

1.
Hes a man of few words But his face tells the story Of the world he knows And the things that he's seen He stays on his own But he doesn't feel lonely He feels he's comfortable In his own skin And he writes his own laconic Symphonies The words are short but the stories they tell He writes his own laconic Symphonies They started bad, but they end so well When he opens his mouth Who is going to listen Will he play his song To the audience of one And he knows That it really doesn't matter Because the song Will play forever in his heart And he writes his own laconic Symphonies The words are short but the stories they tell He writes his own laconic Symphonies They started bad, but they end so well When the time has come to write another story X3 Who will hear? who will hear?
2.
Which you am I talking to Will I be wrong or right It's like jekyll and Hyde in feminine form And I've just run out of fight It's not me it's you It's not me it's you No matter how hard you try to convince me It's not me it's you I'm done with the arguments Can't shout any more But you keep knocking down my defences Leave me down here on the floor We'll go back to where we started Try to start again But it will all end up the same way I want to get off this train I want to get off this train

about

When I wrote Laconic Symphonies the album, I had some ideas for a title track, but I didn't finish it before the album was recorded. I wanted to get the album out and so the song Laconic Symphonies went unfinished. Taking the album out on the road, and then ideas for Southern Boy in the North came. I put the song to one side and I concentrated on that EP. Fast forward to 2020, and work began on my new project 'Two Sides to Every Story', songs began coming thick and fast, and what began as a 4 track EP, expanded and expanded. I picked up Laconic Symphonies again, and began writing it again. I feel that the idea of the song that I had back in 2018 was realised over the 3 years it then took to finish it. I am proud of this track.
